Real Cricket IPL Mode: How to Get Ready

League play rewards a balanced team and steady results, not one big innings. Mode names and rules can change between updates, so check what your version offers.
What league play asks of you
A league is a long run of matches, not one game. One loss won't end your season. But a string of careless losses will.
Think of it as a marathon. Your job is to win more than you lose, match after match.
Build the squad first
A strong squad has balance.
- Two or three reliable top-order batters.
- A power hitter or two for the end.
- Bowlers for every phase.
- Good fielders.
Read our playing XI guide for a full plan.
Plan your matches
Go in with a simple plan:
- Check the pitch and the opponent.
- Pick your XI to suit them.
- Decide your batting approach.
- Set your bowling plan before the first ball.
See the field settings guide for T20 fields.
Tickets, entry and rewards
Some modes ask for tickets or similar items to enter. Check your version's rules.
Be careful of sites that promise "unlimited tickets". They often ask for your login or want you to install a file. Learn the real ways to earn in our unlock tips guide.
Common slips to avoid
Watch out for these:
- Playing the same team every match, even when it doesn't fit.
- Overworking your best bowler.
- Taking big risks after a loss.
- Skipping practice before a big game.
A calm head keeps your season alive.
A match-day routine
Before a match, follow a short routine.
- Check the pitch and the opponent.
- Pick your XI and batting order.
- Choose your first bowler.
- Decide your plan for the first six overs.
- Start the match with a clear head.
This takes a minute, but it avoids silly mistakes.
Handle pressure moments
Close games are where leagues are won. Stay calm.
- Take a breath before a key over.
- Look at the required rate.
- Take singles if you are unsure.
- Do not chase a six on every ball.
For chasing, our 200-run chase plan is a good guide.
Learn from losses
A loss gives you data. After each one, ask:
- Did I lose early wickets?
- Did my bowlers run out of steam?
- Did I read the field well?
Fix one thing before the next match.
Rest and balance
A long league can tire you out. Play in short sessions. Stand up, drink water and rest your eyes.
Also rest your team. If you have good bench players, use them in easy games. It keeps your stars ready for the big ones. Balance in life and in your squad makes the whole season smoother.

Quick questions

Should I play practice matches first?
